What is Personal Independence Payment (PIP)?
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a benefit that is designed to help individuals with the extra costs of living with a long-term health condition or disability. PIP is not means-tested, which means that eligibility is not based on income or savings. PIP is intended to replace the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for individuals aged 16 to 64. It is divided into two components: the daily living component and the mobility component. Each component has two rates, a standard rate and an enhanced rate, depending on the level of help or supervision a person needs and the impact of their condition on their ability to carry out daily living activities or get around.
Do I have to notify a change of address for Personal Independence Payment (PIP)?
If you are receiving Personal Independence Payments, you must notify your change of address. If you do not update your address, you risk not receiving the payments and you may be liable to a penalty for inaccurate information. We recommend you notify the Department for Work & Pensions of your new address at least 4 weeks before you move, this will give them enough time to update your details so that no Personal Independence Payments are missed. We recommend checking that your personal information such as phone number and email address is accurate.
